About Be Smart About Art:
Founded in 2012 by Art World Entrepreneur Susan Mumford, the progam helps you thrive in a changing world. Based out of London, England, with a developing event program and Membership community in the Tri-State area as well as Central Arkansas (Susan's childhood home), a founding principle is access to information with the employment of technology. Accordingly, the online-accessible Members Gateway is updated on a weekly basis, which includes opportunities (art prizes, residencies / fellowships, fairs and more), webinars / audio recordings of BSAA events and talks, templates for your art business, and more. Additionally, digially-accessible professional development workshops are already available to purchase and download, and more are being made available throughout 2017. For individuals seeking custom support, the Creative Specialst Advisors provide one-to-one support, with specialism ranging from business planning to artist-to-artist coaching. Freely accessible information is also available via www.besmartaboutart.com, noting the many hundreds of blog posts in addition to a selection of videos.
About the trainer:
A game-changer in the 21st Century art world, Susan’s an entrepreneur, mentor, speaker, moderator and author. While running a gallery in Soho, London, she founded the Association of Women Art Dealers (AWAD), a non-profit trade network with three chapters: London, New York and Global. AWAD’s mission is to facilitate business and collaborations between and for women art dealers. Several years later, she started a social enterprise called Be Smart About Art, whose motto is: “Art is your life. Make it your living.” This online-accessible platform helps creative professionals thrive in a changing world. In late 2015, her first book was published: Art is your life. Make it your living. While she’s based in London, Susan spends a notable time travelling to the USA and Continental Europe, visiting art fairs, delivering lectures, running panel discussions and more.
