#besmartaboutart networking is a monthly opportunity to meet artists, curators & other peers, to view exhibitions and spaces, and to expand knowledge - creative and professional alike.
In June 2017, we're heading for the first time to the Olympia Art & Antiques Fair. This established UK fair is now in its 45th year, with 160 exhibitors presenting fine art, jewellery, antiques, fine furnishing and more.
Booking to attend this BSAA event will provide you complimentary fair entry (value £15).
ABOUT THE BSAA VISIT :
For those who can arrive early (by 2.30pm):
Attend a talk by Ivan Macquisten, a friend of BSAA, 'The Men Who Shot Liberty's Balance - Appearance and Reality in the Art Market.' This takes place from 2.30 - 3.30pm and booking specifically for the talk is essential: see details and booking form. (The talk itself is free with your complimentary fair pass, which will be provided by BSAA after you book this overall BSAA event, via Eventbrite.)
Browse the fair, starting as early as you can arrive!
At 5.30pm, the BSAA Group will meet in a closed off area in Mosimann's Restaurant inside the fair. (Look out for 'Be Smart About Art' signage.) We'll swap notes on the fair, and will have a larger conversation on what's happening with the art fair scene. (See this BSAA blog post on art fairs today: To do or not to do art fairs?) This conversation will be facilitated by BSAA Founder Susan Mumford, an art fair veteran who spent much of the Spring 2017 season visiting shows on both sides of the Atlantic.
The BSAA talk will be concluded with three top networking tips, in mind of meeting people at these big industry events.
There will be time to continue exploring the fair after the talk, in the company of your peers :-).
*Note that the fair will close at 7pm.*
