Want to know how to make the most of events like the National Open Art show, to move your career forward and profit alike?
Join this participatory event presented by the National Open Art and Be Smart About Art to find out...
This professional development event for emerging to mid-career artists will take place at the 21st National Open Art Exhibition. Real-life examples shown on-site will provide ideas that you can implement in future, and the open Q+A will enable you to ask your own burning questions about the art world and exhibitions.
At this event, you will:
> Clarify aims of participating in art prizes and similar shows going forward, for the benefit of your career, depending on plans for your art career;
> Create a promotional plan (digital and print alike) for participating in such events, including the 'before, during and after';
> Understand what you can do to create long-term benefit from taking part in the show that simultaneously provides you credibility as a professional artist and helps to deepen others’ belief in supporting you;
> Get top tips on how to network and engage with others at exhibition events (including collectors, gallery owners, journalists, artist peers, and others);
> Find out how to effectively follow-up conversations from exhibition events; and
> Troubleshoot things that might go wrong, or not as planned.
As for the questions you have about art prizes? Bring those with you so that Susan can provide answers!
Susan Mumford is a game-changer in the 21st Century art world. While running a gallery in Soho, London, she founded the Association of Women Art Dealers (AWAD), a non-profit trade network with multiple international chapters. She subsequently started Be Smart About Art, a professional development and membership organisation that helps art world professionals thrive in a changing industry. In late 2015, her first book was published: Art is your life. Make it your living.
National Open Art is one of the UK’s leading art competitions, open to amateur and professional artists in the UK and Ireland. Now in its 21st year, this exhibition is set to be a landmark in the Competition’s history, held at the extraordinary Bargehouse, Oxo Tower Wharf on London's South Bank and with plenty of visual treats in store.
