With nearly a decade working full-time as an artist, Rod is excellently placed to speak about being a self-employed artist; exhibiting internationally with galleries and art fairs; working to commission; managing the administration and marketing of being a small business; applying for new opportunities which help drive that art career forwards; networking; client relationships and more. In 2018 alone, Rod exhibited internationally gaining success at art fairs in New York, Miami and Brussels.

> Are you ever afraid that, having got this far, you could still fail? How is this type of nagging doubt – and more, addressed?

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:
ROD MCINTOSH is an artist with his studio in the midst of the English countryside of rural Kent. He works between Kent and London as an exhibiting artist and is represented by several galleries and consultants working together to build a national and international profile for his work.
He studied figurative sculpture in Sheffield, graduating in 1992. He maintained a dynamic practice alongside a successful Arts Management and academic career until 2009. When he returned full-time to the studio.
His current work as a mark-maker lies within the tradition of drawing. With his body, the breath along with materials, and repetitive often-obsessive processes, focuses an attention to the present. Observing and recording the moment of creation within a continuum.
He speaks of them as;
“Physical meditations, that offers himself, and the viewer, a moment to pause.”
A game-changer in the 21st Century art world, Susan's an entrepreneur, mentor, speaker, moderator and author. Her first foray into supporting industry professionals was in the form of the Association of Women Art Dealers (AWAD), which she established in 2010 while running a gallery in Soho, London. This was followed by the launch of Be Smart About Art, an online-accessible professional development platform that helps creative professionals thrive in a changing world. In late 2015, her first book was published in the name of BSAA's motto: `'Art is your life. Make it your living." While based in London, Susan spends notable periods around the UK and also in the USA and Continental Europe, delivering workshops and keynotes, mentoring creative professionals, facilitating panel discussions, judging art prizes and more.
