In this interview, Susan and Patricia will be talking about how to plan in uncertain times, how to focus and improve your time management, how to turn your big ideas and values into daily actions to create the creative career or business you really want, and how to set goals that you will actually accomplish. She will share her practical advice and will give you some practical exercises and thought-provoking questions too to work with.
About the Speakers:
Patricia has been working with creatives, especially designers and craftspeople, for over 20 years and was voted ‘The Number One Business Adviser for Design & Branding’ by Enterprise Nation in March 2018. She wrote The Design Doctor business advice column for Crafts magazine for 5 years and self-published her business planner journal for designer and makers called Dream Plan Do for the third time this Autumn.
Dream Plan Do is not a boring business book ... but a practical guide for product-based creatives who want to get more focus and become better organised, and want to work on ALL aspects of their business and career. Every month has a theme: from goal setting in January, to financial forecasting in February, to what do I do in March and who are my ideal clients in April, to creating and launching a brand and collection in May, all the way to launching a collection in September, with loads of marketing and social media along the way.
As Patricia says: “I only wrote half the book, and I left plenty of space for you to give your own answers to the thought-provoking questions and creative business exercises. This is the book if you want to work on your business, move forward and would like to have a business coach, but can’t afford one. This book can capture all your ideas, thoughts and plans to keep you accountable to yourself.”
This beautiful planner journal, with a softback or hardback dark teal or coral cover, is full of practical advice, checklists, planners for your finance, marketing and social media.
Susan is a game-changer in the 21st Century art world. She’s an entrepreneur, mentor, speaker, moderator and author. While running her gallery in Soho, London, she founded the Association of Women Art Dealers (AWAD), an international non-profit membership network that facilitates business and collaborations with members operating to high professional standards. This was followed by the creation of Be Smart About Art, an online-accessible professional development platform based out of London that helps creative professionals thrive in a changing world. In late 2015, her first book was published in the name of BSAA’s motto: Art is your life. Make it your living.
Based in Lewes, East Sussex, Susan works locally, in London, around the UK, the USA, Continental Europe and online, running workshops, lectures and courses, delivering 1-2-1 sessions, facilitating panel discussions, judging prizes and more.
