The Be Smart About Art's Member Masterclass is a weekly webinar series in which BSAA Founder Susan J Mumford facilitates a conversation with an expert guest speaker. The duration of the event is 45 minutes.

Lydia Bauman is both a landscape painter and an art historian fascinated by the phenomenon of the American artist, Georgia O'Keeffe and her idiosyncratic interpretations of the landscape of New Mexico. She works in a mixed media technique which involves combining pigments with plaster, resin, wax and other unconventional materials to create textured surfaces evocative of the look and feel of the landscapes that inspired her. For this exhibition she travelled to 'Georgia O’Keeffe Country' - Northern New Mexico desert which O’Keeffe referred to as her 'backyard', to re-interpret the landscapes made familiar to us by the Mother of American modernism’s own iconic works.

Susan is a game-changer in the 21st Century art world. She’s an entrepreneur, mentor, speaker, moderator and author. While running her gallery in Soho, London, she founded the Association of Women Art Dealers (AWAD), an international non-profit membership network that facilitates business and collaborations with members operating to high professional standards. This was followed by the creation of Be Smart About Art, an online-accessible professional development platform based out of London that helps creative professionals thrive in a changing world. In late 2015, her first book was published in the name of BSAA’s motto: Art is your life. Make it your living.

Based in Lewes, East Sussex, Susan works locally, in London, around the UK, the USA, Continental Europe and online, running workshops, lectures and courses, delivering 1-2-1 sessions, facilitating panel discussions, judging prizes and more.
