Anna McNay is Assistant Editor at Art Quarterly (Art Fund) and a freelance writer and editor.
She comes from an academic background, as a doctoral candidate, tutor, and lecturer in German and Linguistics at the University of Oxford, and an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow at the Humboldt University in Berlin.
In 2011, returning to study part-time for an MA in History of Art at Birkbeck, University of London, she began writing reviews for the online art journal Studio International, for whom she continues to write and present today. She began work with Art Quarterly in March 2017, previously being Deputy Editor for State media and Arts Editor for DIVA magazine. She also writes catalogue essays, reviews, interviews and profiles for various online and print publications, including Photomonitor, RA Magazine, Platea, Elephant, the Mail on Sunday and the Guardian. Anna is a member of the NUJ, WiJ and AICA, and is NCTJ certified.
